Your heart away

How do you breathe?
How do you grieve
How do you open your eyes?

Can you emerge from,
Can your heart become?
Does the truth outlive lies

I can't imagine how hope would break
Leave so little to hold when they take
Your heart away

I can't measure the length
Or summon the strength
For a pain I can't even spell

How do you walk?
How do you talk?
How do you bear to visit hell?

I can't imagine how a heart could live
Yet you stand before me and give
Your heart away

What gives you sight?
Are you carved from light
And is it love that sings your name?

And this, I don't fear,
Your heart, open here,
Means no other heart will be the same.

I can't imagine heart how a heart could live
Yet you stand before me and give
Your heart away.
