Not One of Us
© 2003 Matt Henry
Jeremiah, just a little boy,
Said "I don't think I can be
In the Lord's employ…
I don't know what to say,
I think the whole plan is absurd,"
But God said "It'll be OK,
'Cos I'll give you my words."
And not one of us
Has not said "not me!"
When God says, "hey, look..."
We've all said "I can't see!"
But God says, trust me now,
And I will give you sight,
I believe in you, and I'm probably right."
Mary, Mary, just a little girl,
Met an angel late one night,
Who said "I've got something to tell…
You're gonna have a baby,
And though you have your doubts,
There's some trust God needs from you,
And with God you can work it out."
And not one of us
Has not said "not me!"
When God says, "hey, look..."
We've all said "I can't see!"
But God says, trust me now,
And I will give you sight,
I believe in you, and I'm probably right."
We're in this story,
Don't get confused,
God's waiting in our hearts
Just to be introduced.
Still, we get timid,
We get a bit afraid,
But to bring God to each other
Is why we are made.
And not one of us
Has not said "not me!"
When God says, "hey, look…"
We've all said "I can't see!"
But God says, trust me now,
And I will give you sight,
I believe in you, and I'm probably right."
