How shoud we live in a way which is compatible with our being a likeness of God? - Abraham Joshua Heschel
It is Good
© 2003 Matt Henry
In the beginning there was nothing but darkness,
Then the Creator said "Let there be light."
There came a light that broke through the darkness,
And God saw what had been created was good.
In the sky God created two lights,
The greater was the sun, the lesser the moon.
These and the stars told of signs and of seasons,
And God saw what had been created was good.
And what are we that you have put us above
So much of what you've made?
And what are we to do in the image of you,
But to see too,
All you've created: it is good.
Beneath the sky was an abundance of water,
Everything else, the Creator called 'land.'
Onto the land cam all of the animals,
And God saw what had been created was good.
The sea and sky weren't left to be bare,
Birds filled the skies, and fishes the seas,
Such and abundance we were chosen to name them,
And God saw what had been created was good.
And what are we that you have put us above
So much of what you've made?
And what are we to do in the image of you,
But to see too,
All you've created: it is good.
Out of the dust and in the image of God,
Woman and man made out of the earth.
The breath of life breathed into their nostrils,
And God saw what had been created was good.

So much of what you've made?
And what are we to do in the image of you,
But to see too,
All you've created: it is good.
