Husband, Shepherd, Angel
© 2005 Matt Henry
I am a husband,
Walking in time, by her side.
Holding her hand through this journey,
As she holds a heartbeat inside…
And she cried like I've never
Until her laughter sang away her screams
No angel in earth or heaven
Could prepare me for this dream
For this dream
I am a shepherd,
Quite at home with the cold, dark earth.
I am no stranger to stables
I am no stranger to birth…
Then they came, like lightning,
Like a star, trying to reach the ground,
And they sang their hearts to us
"Come and look what we have found."
What we have found.
I am an angel,
Confident in singing praise.
I know goodness when I sing it,
But nothing yet, in all my days…
For this light, like no other
Is the light of all that is,
And it's all here, in this baby,
The light of life, completely his.
The light of life.
